This bike is in great shape, must see it to appreciate it. Over $1,300 in upgrades to an already great bike. it only weighs about 28lbs, incredible for a 5" travel all mountain bike. Paid $2k for bike plus all the upgrades, and this bike was just tuned up at bike shop. I hate to sell the bike, but it must go to pay for school. Saw this ad on the New Haven Craigslist and I had to say something. First off, I don't see $1,300 in upgrades put into this bike. Most of the parts appear to be stock on what you can get the bike for from Randall Scott. Maybe he paid $2000 but my guess is that it was more like $1500, from Randall Scott! More importantly, why sink so much dough into a bike and then have to turn around and sell it? Also, if you go to Randall Scott, you can get essentially the same bike, and most of the same parts, for $700 less! Get a job if you need money for school and ride your bike!

I see this a lot, people selling bikes to afford important things. You would think that if you are going to need money for school you would have had the foresight not to drop that kind of scratch on a bike that costs so much. Of course situations do change and maybe the guy really needs the money for school but if you think someone is going to pay full price on Craigslist, you are grossly mistaken. Try eBay. A quick check to the two major Mountain Biking websites in CT, Crankfire.com and Bikerag.com, yield no posts for this bike being sold which says to me even more that this is guy is trying to rip you off.

If you ask me, I wouldn't pay no more than $1500 for this bike and for a couple of reasons. You don't know how far this bike has been dropped or how abusive the previous owner rode it. Did the seller mention that Iron Horse is out of business so if there were ever an issue with the frame or a part, sorry charlie, no replacement opportunity (granted that might not happen anyway because you wouldn't be the original owner).

Of course, kudos to the future owner of this bike because it's a serious All Mountain Weapon! I love mine and while I have been tempted to sell it and get a full susser 29er, I like the bike too much to take that step.
