Westchester Mountain Biking Association (WMBA) to Hold 13th Annual Fat Tire Festival!!!

I went to this two years ago and had a blast! Well worth the trip because Blue Mtn is a great place to ride. There is a roller on one of those trails that is on par with the Green Monster, in terms of size, but really easy to roll! Here is a sequence of shots that I took with my Canon of Kathy Herde rolling it!

The Westchester Mountain Biking Association (WMBA), Westchester County NY’s only mountain biking club and advocacy group, is once again holding their annual Fat Tire Festival on Sunday June 8, 2008 at Blue Mountain Reservation in Peekskill New York. The event runs 11am to 4pm with lots of great activities for the whole family to enjoy. This is a great opportunity to spend a day outdoors and experience one of the crown jewels of our County’s great parks. If you haven't had the chance to ride Blue Mountain's singletrack - TREAT YOURSELF!!!!!!

The WMBA is a grass-roots organization that offers leadership and organization to the mountain biking community in Westchester County. The organization began in 1995 as the Cortlandt Area Bicycle Network (CABN), the name was later changed to reflect a county-wide focus. The WMBA works closely with the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation organizing trail maintenance sessions, a web site and group rides.

The Fat Tire Festival is a celebration of mountain biking. One and all are welcome to come out and spend a day riding some of the greatest trails in New York State. There will be organized rides for all ability levels leaving throughout the day. In addition, there will be various skills competitions including a wheelie contest, a slow race, and the famous skinny contest happening at the main tent.

We will again hold our Poker Rally. Each year Cannondale and Hickory and Tweed Bicycle Shop in Armonk donate a Cannondale mountain bike that is our grand prize for the Poker Rally winner. In addition to this we have many items that we raffle off through out the day.

A majority of the proceeds raised during the Poker Rally and throughout the day are donated to the Westchester County Friends of Parks. For 25 years this non profit organization has worked to raise money to buy equipment, fund children’s programs, provide amenities and support the Westchester County Parks. Their vision is to keep the parks clean, green and growing. Come out for a good cause, have some fun and give back to the Westchester County Parks.
