Ann is back on the Bike

Before heading back to Connecticut on Monday, Ann & I went out for quick spin around town. It was her first time riding outdoors this season.  She had a bit of a set back last fall with a ski injury and has been slowly coming back and cycling is part of her rehabilitation.

Discovering the Slate Valley Trails

Little did I know but The Slate Valley Trails started right across the street from the camp ground we were staying at over the Memorial Day weekend. So I headed out solo to reconnoiter the trails nearest to us.

Memorial Day camping and riding bikes

Ann and I went tent camping at Lake Saint Catherine State Park in Poultney, VT on Memorial Day weekend and we brought our mountain bikes. We also got to try out her new Yakima Backswing for the bike rack. Awesome design and functionality which lets you keep the bikes on the rack but get them out of the way when loading and unloading.

Memorial Day at The Beast

It started out pretty crowded Saturday morning because the Rams Head lift was having some issues.

Afternoon Downhill in the rain

 August 19, 2024

Ann & I headed up to Killington to take a few downhill laps. It was a lot cooler in the mountains compared to Rutland so it was an easy decision to make for a summer afternoon activity.

Rediscovering Pine Hill Park

I rode Pine Hill Park for the first time back in June 2013 when a riding buddy of mine, Glenn Vernes, and I decided to hit a few parks on our way north to NEMBAFest. Fast forward to July 9th, 2024, returning to the park I had no recollection of what I rode 11 years ago so it was like a new adventure.

Missing Link

July 6, 2024

Ann & I rode down the Northern Rail Trail in New Hampshire to Danbury, NH.  A few years ago, I had ridden to Danbury from Concord but turned around due to the weather. Today's ride closes the loop on this rail trail.

 June 30, 2024

Ann and I headed over to Castleton to ride the D&H Rail Trail Saturday morning. It was a warm summer day and I was happy to be on the bike with someone equally as happy to be riding with me.

Ann's first ride to OOF

 June 22, 2024

Prior to meeting Ann, one of my favorite weekend rides was to Ovens of France in Woodbury, CT. We would eat French pastries, drink French Roast Coffee, and then ride back to Newtown. Today, I introduced Ann to this gastronomic riding adventure.

A Memorial Weekend - Part I

 May 25th, 2024

To kick off Memorial Day, Ann and I hit the slopes at Killington Saturday morning and we were able to get a selfie with the infamous Birdman. Today was also opening day at Killington Mountain Bike Park and their golf course.  The latter two activities were opened for 2024/2025 Beast Pass holders which I got this year. If you did all three you got a free t-shirt  I couldn’t get a T-Time so that wasn’t happening

Bloomin’ Metric Cycling Date

May 19, 2024

I convinced Ann to ride the Bloomin’ Metric with me. This would be Ann’s longest ride to date with me and the first time in14 years I am not riding with my father.
