Before heading back down to Connecticut for the weekend Ann & I headed out for a ride to Pittsford and back. There is a great view of Killington Mountain from West Proctor Road.
While we were climbing up to this point something flew into Ann, presumably a bug, but there was no sign of a bite or a sting. Her skin was just red around where it hit her. Later down the road (pun intended) she felt another bite on her back. Turns out this huge beetle flew into her and got caught up in her jersey. We found it later when we got back to the house. It was huge!

In Proctor there is this cool old quarry just off the road
Once down the hill we crossed over some covered bridges
The apex of the loop was in Pittsford and then we headed back on VT RT 3. There's a killer hill that we had to climb that Ann wasn't particularly enthused about but she made it.
Not 2 minutes earlier Ann mentioned it would be great if we saw a train and here one came!
Lisa J. Wulfson's name is on the cab of Engine 210 and was a former owner of the Vermont Rail System who passed away in 2021 due to cancer.
We often hear the trains running through Rutland but rarely do we see them on our rides. Today was a treat.
Back in Rutland, we stopped at the Village Snack Bar for a Maple Creemee.
