Go Dog, Go!

 Sep 21, 2026

We have an onery, Corgi and Australian Shepherd mix and hate leaving him in VT when we come down to Connecticut. We brought him down with us this weekend and decided to get him a kid trailer so we could take him on rides with us. I looked around Craigslist and FB Market Place and found this InStep Trailer over in Naugatuck. On Sunday, we tested it out with Kai.

Woodbury Hippie Ride

Since I am not working Ann & I are splitting our time between Sandy Hook and Rutland and she wants to ride as much as possible now.  After returning from our camping trip we had things to get done at both our houses so we couldn't ride Monday so before heading back north we rode up to Woodbury and back.

'25 OOF Account Opener

 Apr 27, 2025

When the weekend weather forecast for Vermont promised unusually warm temperatures, we made the tough call to skip skiing this weekend—only for Saturday to deliver even worse weather right at home in Newtown. With Ann heading out to visit her mother on Sunday, I wasn't about to waste the day. I jumped into action and organized a Newtown Lunartics ride to our absolute favorite destination: Ovens of France, or as we affectionately call it, OOF.

Dirty discoveries in the Berkshire Foothills

I set off Saturday morning on a scriptless, local gravel exploration to try some new stuff and explore dirt roads on the Roxbury/Woodbury border that I seldom ride. I actually had a route planned but it was much longer than what I time for as I left later than I had originally intended. I waited for it to warm up a little more. With the sun higher in the sky and the temperature at 32 degrees, I rolled out.

I took my usual route from the house to Roxbury in which First Dirt is less than a half mile Sanford Road. Headed over to Black Bridge by cutting through the winery and then climbing up Walnut Tree to make a short, dirty descent on Lester Road. Unfortunately, Black Bridge is a fun descent down to the Pootatuck River.

Ride Before Work: WTF is Wrong in Woodbury

The LunArtic's Friday ride to the Oven's of France in Woodbury had an extra stop to make.  Apparently a disgruntled citizen of that fair town has a gripe with the town that has prompted him to create a lawn sign, similar to all the big W's seen along Route 6, only his adds two more letters for WTF: Woodbury Wastes Tax Payer Funds.
