Today was all about climbing some really big hills around West Leb. The longest of the four major climbs on this loop was a nearly 7 mile ride up the backside of Hayes Hill.
It was comprised of Greensboro Road, Etna Road, and Ruddsboro Road and it was a long slog upwards.
Then came this punchy climb in Enfield that took me by surprise.
Which had a max grade of 24.5%!
But the payoff was an incredible view of Crystal Lake
On the other side of Mascoma Lake I found a former Shaker Village
The statues of women in dresses near the Enfield Shaker Village are part of the historic Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette located on adjacent hillside grounds along Mascoma Lake in Enfield, New Hampshire.
The final resting place for 330 Shakers.

and the town beach.
At the top is a wonderful view looking east and you can just make out Mt Ascutney.

and here, barely visible (third ridge), I believe is Killington.
Being mid September some leaves were starting to pop
Then came the next big hill that went up the backside of Whaleback Mountain Ski Area.
More fall foliage
The Pumpkin People were out in force.
The Plainfield Pumpkin People are a fun autumn tradition where dozens of creative, human-like figures made from real pumpkins appear outside homes and businesses in Plainfield, New Hampshire.
If the last climb wasn't enough then this one, a few miles later, was more icing on the cake.
There was another nice view of Mt Ascutney
And it wouldn't be a good ride if we didn't find some dirt that wasn't marked on the map.
Took the Northern Trail back to West Leb and then hooked around the back side to bring it on home.
