Rochester in the Rain

It was parents weekend at the University of New Hampshire so I drove from Hanover to Durham on Friday to see my son Brodie for the weekend. When I got there, we went for a hike at Pawtuckaway State Park, which is a ring dyke complex from an extinct volcano. When I bought the Waltly back in 2021 I went on a ride around the State Park, Joe versus the Volcano Roubaix. Seeing this rock formation sparked my curiosity for geology and since then I have been hooked on the origin of mountains, volcanic and activity and the interesting topography it creates. Brodie had to do some studying Saturday morning so I went out for a little ride from the AirBnB I had rented in Berwick, ME.

I knew the weather was going to be crappy all weekend and fortunately where I was staying had a wrap around porch and the perfect spot to keep my bike out of the rain.

I had originally intended to do a longer ride but slept in and started following the route but knew I was going to call an audible somewhere along the way.  I crossed back into NH in Somersworth and headed towards Rochester, NH.

Apparently, Rochester has a lot of Lilac bushes. There was an old railroad bed/rail trail that I wanted to ride but it was more suited for a mountain bike, so I turned around and headed back to the AirBnB.

There was a cool brewery in Berwick but it wasn't open yet.
