Ann & I headed over to Castleton this morning and rode down the rail trail and after the the School rode South Street to Staso Road, which turns to dirt a lot earlier than what RWGPS shows.
Staso Road turns into a Class 3 climb which I wasn't sure how Ann was going to take it because we really haven't done a lot of climbing this year.
Goats
Staso Road intersects with Pond Hill Road and it's on Pond Hill that has the 15% section of the climb.
Ann had no troubles with the climb
and she had a smile on her face at the top of the climb!
It was a perfect (early) Stick Season Day
Pond Hill Road is a great dirt road and a must do climb if you are riding in the area
and there are cows
and horses, too!

Still some fall foliage left to be seen.
We poppped out on VT 140 for a half mile and then turned north and the road turned to dirt again on Lewis Road.
After this farm we turned onto Gorhamtown Road
and there was a bit of a climb
but nothing to worry about.
Black Angus Cattle
We rode up through someone's driveway which happened to be a legitimate access point for the rail trail
and rode back to the trail head.
Après ride we stopped at Angler Pub on Strongs Avenue for some Switchback Drafts.
