New Bike Day: 2006 TREK 1500 SLR

I acquired this frame to replace the Voodoo and while I had a lot of Ultegra parts from the last bike I also had pair of SRAM Rival shifters that I wanted to use so I decided this would be a SRAM Rival build.

I couldn't find a 10 speed Rival crank so I had to settle for an Apex compact road crankset. I put on a Roval Fuse wheelset that someone gave me last year, and I am running 700x26c Aspite tires, which is an uncommon tire size but work nicely with this frame because 28c will not fit.  I got these tires the other day when I found a smoking deal on a HED 10 speed wheelset that put on the Jamis.

I noticed a little issue with the shifting on my way to the lake but since it was such a nice day out I opted to suck it up and go out for a little ride to get the file of the bike.

I headed over to Castle Hill Farm for some more bovine therapy

This girl was being very protective of the salt lick

and the Jersey is still off by itself, still.

On the ride home it started to cloud up and by the time I got back to Chez Cyclesnack it was sprinkling.  The bike is super solid and not only will it make an excellent indoor trainer bike it will be an excellent back up road bike.
