Blue Bird day at Grand Teton National Park

We started from the Cottonwood Creek Parking area and you could not have asked for a better day. There was a slight breeze which made the standing temperature of 24 degrees feel like 24 degrees. My Dad, his girlfriend Peggy and I headed north towards Jenny Lake and compared to last year, there was a lot more snow.

Unfortunately the Grand was still enshrouded by clouds

But cross country skiing along the enormity of the Teton range is still awe inspiring.

On this trip I brought my son's skis because he decided XC skiing was no longer his thing. He tried it once and gave it up. Kid's these days. I went out and got a smaller pair of boots from Ski Haus in New Milford for this trip and these skis were great. I also borrowed his anorak that I got him for this activity. Glad it fits me perfectly.

This was the best picture I could get of the Grand today

Zoomed in shot

My dad and Peggy turned around at 1.5 miles but I kept going to see if I could get to Jenny Lake.

I did get this pretty good selfie of me with the Grand

I got within a 1/4 mile, I think, of the cabins at Jenny Lake, which was approximately 3 miles from where I started and I turned around.

I shucked my jacket after I turned around

and I was sweating by the time I got back to the start.

While waiting for me to return my father got this great shot of the Grand.
