I was looking at the maps the other day and I happened to notice a few roads/trails that appear to go through to other roads on the routes that usually ride so I decided to check them out today.
Starting my ride off through The Gut I veered off on a side street because there was a school bus on River Street stopping at every intersection. I saw this house already decked out for Halloween. It's not even October!

First Dirt was on Gorge Road today.
Turning south onto East Street I rode this covered bridge and the dirt began again.
East Street is a great dirt road to take Wallingford.
A lone cow
Old Pine Hill starts off as a trail and then opens up into an old farm track. It's an easy ride but a bit bumpy due to roots and rocks.
Then it's a fast decent to VT 140. This will make a better connection to East Street going the other way because you don't have to deal with VT 140 and the 24% incline on the paved portion of East Street further up the road.
When riding back to Rutland we usually take Elm Street to River Street. Today I noticed that Elm Street actually goes straight and turns to dirt so I followed it. It climbs up and then there is a sign for Memorial Drive.
Then there is this sign. My kind of People! This opens up a lot of potential because now you can turn off River Street get some dirt up to VT 140 and then climb up to Tinmouth where there is a plethora of dirt roads or take the Elfin Lake road to Waldo Lane and out to RT 7 and then pick up some dirt further down the road.
Heading back to Rutland there's a nice view of Pico Mountain.
This is the start of the dirt portion of Creek Road that I have to fix on OpenStreet Maps so that it shows up as unpaved.

This eBiker passed me on Alfrecha Road. Never slowed at the stop sign.
