Pick Up Scripts

 Apr 24, 2025

After a grueling six-plus months in the shop, my Yamaha Wabash is finally back where it belongs. I picked it up last week, but between work and life, I hadn't had a chance to really open it up. Today, a work-from-home day built around a doctor's appointment gave me the perfect window for a lunchtime test spin—and a chance to see how my new pedals felt.

It was an absolutely gorgeous spring day. In fact, it was warm enough that I boldly opted for bib shorts. Let’s just say my legs were looking a little pasty after a long winter, but the weather was too good to pass up.

My first stop was into town to kill two birds with one stone and run a quick errand to the pharmacy. I rolled right up to the drive-through window, which immediately caught the pharmacist's eye. She was pretty impressed to see a cyclist in the drive-through lane, but I had to be honest with her: I pointed down at the frame and admitted it was an e-bike, so I was getting a little extra help today!

With the errand checked off, I set out to enjoy the afternoon. Spring is in full swing right now; the dogwoods and yellow forsythia are blooming everywhere, making the roads look incredible.

I cruised down to Sandy Hook, then looped back up via Walnut Tree and Albert’s Hill. The Wabash felt great, and the new pedals were dialed in perfectly.

Since I wasn't ready for the ride to end, I passed right by my house and kept going out to the end of Hanover Road to check out Lake Lillinonah.

The water level was noticeably high, and spring is officially here because there was already a bass boat out on the water. It was the perfect shakedown cruise to welcome the bike home.
