Shrewsbury Fall Foliage Tour

Oct 7, 2026

Originally, I was going to explore some gravel roads between Cold River and Wheelerville Road but the rear tire on the CAADx was flat so I decided to ride to Shrewsbury on the Waltly. The foliage in this part of Vermont is exploding with color and this was the perfect afternoon to take in it's beauty.

I hate these surprises but on a positive note I was able to ride Cold River Road and knock that off the Wandrer list.

Some cattle on this farm on Shrewsbury Road and a great view of Bird Mountain and the Taconic Mountains.

The farm's geese were making their presence known.

Halloween decorations are also popping up all over the place.

I can't wait to start fishing here.

It's a long climb!

The colors on the surrounding hills were resplendent

There was color everywhere

I continued climbing pavement on the CCC road and saw these turkeys

and then the pavement stopped.

I fueled up at Pierce's store

and then the clouds rolled in.

There was some rain off to the north

and to the southwest, the direction that I was heading on this route.

It will probably be gone by the time I get there.

Salt Ash Mountain

Descending Lincoln Hill

Wet roads in Clarendon.

Looking south towards Mt Equinox

From left to right, Pico, Killinton, and Mendon Mountain.

East Peak was popping!
