Riding around NYC Drinking Water

Jun 29, 2024

I haven't ridden with Will for awhile and asked him if he wanted to get together this Saturday to ride around some of the reservoirs in Westchester and Dutchess Counties that supply water to NYC. It was also a good opportunity to add some Wandrer miles.

I have been wanting to ride a good portion of NY Route 100 and I mapped out a route on RWGPS that would do just that. We met in Katonah and headed out on RT 35 to RT 100.

For early summer the weather was perfect. Not too hot and not at all cold. It was overcast so we didn't have to worry about too much sun, either. It was a 50 mile route with 4,000 feet of climbing it seemed pretty flat and were were able to maintain a good average speed.

The Memorial Day flags were still up in Carmel

Turning onto Farmer's Mill Road the traffic slackened quite a bit making for a really pleasant ride.

Lawn cutters were out in force today

Rolling down through Granite Springs on the straightest roads

and Somers has some nice long straight roads, too.

It was a little climby as we got close to the New Croton Reservoir

and then flattened out again on Rt 100 as we headed north back to Katonah.

Last bridge over a reservoir and then we were back at the start.

We both got slices and Dr Brown's Cream Soda at Amore Pizzeria.
