Summer Fat Biking at PHP

I had three interviews on Tuesday and the last one went into extra innings. Afterwards I needed to clear my head so I got kitted up and headed out on the Tracker towards Pine Hill Park.  I headed to another entrance to the park because I new there was trail work going on and I didn't want to feel guilty that I was riding and not helping.

It was hot and muggy today but surprisingly not as buggy as the last time I was here. I learned my lesson and practically bathed in bug repellant before leaving the house and brought some with me just incase I needed a touch up. I headed up Evergreen Falls and I was surprised at how easy it was and for that matter much shorter than Svelte Tiger or Furlough.

By the time I got to the end of Underdog I was drenched in sweat.  From here I headed up Overlook where I met Patrick from Tygart Mountain Sports in Ludlow. He and his friend were test riding new Commencial eMTBs.

I headed into Stegosaurus because I wanted to see if it rode better in this direction than the other.  Overall, I think it was better but I did have a little mishap at one sketchy section. There's a tight turn around a tree and its really rocky, too. I tried making the corner but then I stalled out and since I had my seat post extended I couldn't reach the ground and I fell off the bike and banged my shin.

It was sore and there were a few abrasions but it wasn't painful enough to bail on the ride so I kept going. When I got home is when I noticed the swelling so I put ice on it.  I might have to take a brake from riding for a few days. I have to say, overall, it was a great ride. The fat bike, running at 10 PSI is super smooth and for the most part floats over the techy stuff. I can't wait to try some more trails on it this summer.
