Morning Roubaix

 Jun 30, 2025

Ann headed off to work early Monday morning and I was planning on meeting her in Burlington that evening so before heading north I went out for a little gravel ride around Rutland.

Campbell Road just got paved and it was super schweet!

I decided to ride Boardman Hill and then check out the trails behind the dog park.

Boardman Hill is a great gravel road that starts out with a punchy little climb and then gradual descent that leads into a much steeper descent. The views of the Taconics from this road are amazing.

The trails were OK, mostly grass and I knew from the map they wouldn't amount to much. What I did find, however, was an old gravel road that led out to VT 133.

Then on VT 133 it begins a climb, 4 miles back to Quarterline Rd.

The last 2 miles is on School House Hill and it's a steep, dirt road climb.

Looking back to where I came from there is a great view of the Taconic Range.

Quarterline has a great view looking south, too.

Coming down Walker Mountain, I was moving too fast to put on the brakes and turn onto Creek Road so I just kept going and got this wonderful view of Pico, Killington Peak, and Mendon Mountain, with Round Hill in the foreground.

This is no joke - Otter Creek floods a lot.

There's a spring on Creek Road. It doesn't have an official name and it's referred to as the Creek Road Spring.

Right before the Rt 4 overpass there's a red barn with this character looking at you.

I drove to Burlington after my ride via RT 89 and passed by Camel Back.
