Rejoining RC Ilumenati

I kind of fell off the face of the earth with RC Ilumenati, , my local night riding group, due to the Give-a-Shit meter being pegged with all the cold weather and snow that this winter brought. Tonight, though, I came back. I thought it was going to be warmer evening, but it was far from it

Mat-O changed the  location to the  Fairfield Metro-North Station so we could do Wings & Rings afterwards at Archie Moore’s. Tadej, didn’t see the change and went to Easton. Realizing his faux pax he called and said he was coming and to wait for him. Rather than wait around in the freezing cold we decided to take a few pre-game laps. That is when I realized I was way underdressed.

Fortunately, I bought some snivel gear but not enough. Before starting the ride proper I threw on a headband and a wind vest. The only thing lacking was my feet and they were numb most of the ride.

Even with the delay we had some daylight for part of the ride. Riding north we headed up Morehouse Lane and then continued to work our way north, past Mat-O's house and then we turned west just before the Merritt.

Turning onto Cross Highway we kept to the SOMP, or South of the Merritt Parkway, boundary. By now, my hands had warmed up enough in my gloves that taking them off for a picture was OK.

Pulling into the backside of Staples Highway School Scotty called a Personal Relief stop. It gave me some time to walk around and get some circulation back in my toes until it was my turn in the box.

We got down to Imperial Drive by nautical twilight and the view was amazing.

Crossed over the Saugatuck River

We got to Westport Station just as a train was departing. We couldn’t get on the path in time for the train to pass us because there was some construction on the sidewalk that forced us to dismount.

This is truly a hidden gem!

We made an abbreviated circuit of Long Shore and then headed over to Compo but by passed the beach tour in the interest of time.

We even ride the last mile on Route 1 because we were all freezing and still got a 3 Handle.
