Shrewsbury 3-Handle

 Mar 28, 2025

I headed out to West Rutland again only this time I tried some different roads to add more to my Wandrer total.

There was a bit more sun today making it for much warmer riding.

I rode north into more of the West Rutland neighborhoods.

I missed this on the ride two days ago but there are two streams that come together on Walker Mountain Road.

One is Ira Brook and the other is the Clarendon River.

There are a lot of these New/Used car dealers around here.

Why would you ever buy a car out in the sticks? Is it a tax thing?

Great view of Pico Mountain (l), Mendon Mountain (r) in the foreground and Killington Peak behind on Mendon Mountain on the right.

Those cows again.

I ventured up Gorge Road, which is dirt but not gravelly and very rideable on my road tires.

The Mill River looks like a good place to fly fish.

There was more dirt on the other side of this covered bridge that I wasn't ready to explore. Need to come back with the Gravel Bike.

Mill River, looking east, from the covered bridge.

The view west of the covered bridge.

I rode up VT 103 to Cuttingsville and crossed over the Mill River again.

Turning onto Town Hill Road I started climbing up to Shrewsbury.

Passed a few Sugar Shacks along the way. Nothing smells more sweeter than one of these in operation.

It was a climb

but worth the view.

Shrewsbury

Descending Cold River Road was really cold, especially with the sun behind the clouds but it was long and fast.
