My kids and their bikes

Above are my three kids, from left to right: Katie, Elliot, and Brodie. Last Friday as I was driving to work I stopped at a tag sale and bought a 6 speed Diamondback for my daughter. I spent $8 for the bike and all I had to do was replace the front wheel which cost me another $26, so I spent a total of $34. I also had to replace the stem but I had that in the parts bin.

Once I got her bike finished, I went out and got a pair of training wheels for her old bike, which by the way is essentially the same bike only without gears and a coaster brake. I got that one for free at my LBS last year. All I had to do for that one is replace the brake cables and grips. I added the bars because she liked them. It's unbelievable how quickly Elliot has moved from a bike with 12 inch wheels to one with 20 inch wheels.

Brodie has now taken ownership of Elliot's old bike and has already seems to have gotten the hang of riding it.

Here is a little video I made of the boys taking turns riding the trail-a-bike.

Looks like I am going to have to get a Tandem Trail-a-bike for next summer.

And while I am at it, I might as well get a tandem so that I can take all three kids on much longer rides.
